SYS. installed  on a SD Card. I have DEBIAN LINUX on here and itis working good.

SO THIS POST BROUGHT TO YOU ON A PINE64, that I got off of KICKSTARTER last year.    The way i have it setup , cost around $60 ,  which is not a bad price at all.   Even with all the extra stuff like cables, key board and Mouse , I’m still under a $100 bucks total .   Sad thing is that It is a better computer than my NETBOOK.      They have these for sale now  at  PINE64.ORG .   I think they are well worth the money you will  spend on them.  So go check them out.

GAS TANK FUN

GAS TANK FUN

Well my GAS TANK FUN , started when I got my  Old / New Truck.  When I got my Truck it had old, bad GAS in it that stank  so bad that I wanted to GAG.   Well  I  thought that I could get this fixed by running some Fuel Treatment  through it.   Well that didn’t work out very well at all.

So the real  GAS TANK FUN  started.  I needed to  get the old /bad Gas out of there.  This meant that  I needed  to get the Tank out of the Truck and wash it out. Not an easy Job for a mechanic with a lift and all the right tools to do  it with.  For me doing it with  A  Jack  and some Stands ,   It was a lot more work and very uncomfortable.   There are a lot of things that are in the way when doing this on the ground that would be easy to get out of the way if it was on a lift.   Well I got it out and cleaned up and put   back in.  I thought that it was FIXED.  So I put it all back together and tried it. Well It was Not Fixed.  Well Part of it was , but not all of it.

The   GAS TANK FUN continued with the FUEL PUMP not working.  Well when I put it back together I had not messed with the  fuel  pump.  That was a big Mistake for sure.  I should of checked to make sure it was running , but i didn’t do that. So I got  to do the trouble shooting and it was the Fuel  Pump that was not working.  Well this sent me out to get a new fuel pump.  Well Now it was time to take the Fuel Tank out of the truck for the second time.

So GAS TANK FUN part two Starts off with me setting the Jack Stands on their tallest setting so I can  have more work room under the Truck.  This helped out a lot, and made working under there a lot easier on me. Don’t get me wrong it was still a pain to work under there but with that extra height it was better on ME.Well I was able to sit up better so  my back was not bent too bad.  Well I got the Fuel Tank out and took the Pump out, to start the replacement of it . When I did this I got a 4 inch long Jelly like worm of GOO that crawled out of the uptake line. It melted away real fast but that was not something that should be in the fuel line.  Well I got the wires set up to test the pump and it worked , after spitting out another GOO WORM. This was good , it meant that the pump was just clogged up, and not burned out.

Well the  GAS TANK FUN was to the reassembly phase.  I got better at working under there.  When I got it all put back together  I found that I had a bad wire somewhere.   SO off to the Wire Trouble Shooting I go. Found out  Which of the wires was bad and ran a new one to replace it . Well it all worked good so I finish putting it all back together.  This was a lot of  WORK that I don’t want to have to do again.  Well when it was all back together I started it up and gave it a test run. I’m happy, Then I turned off the key and It kept running ,  WHAT THE ?????? .  Well I found that the relay  was a bit sticky  and not letting go the way it should. So I got it out and made the connections  with the  clips and bumped the relay about 20 times and put it back in and it works now.  It was a bit sticky to start but it worked lose and is working fine now, but I will be getting a new one soon.

I was thinking that the GAS TANK FUN was done, but I was Wrong.   I was driving it  and smelling gas  and I thought it was from the tarp that I was working on. Well i took it out and  let it air out.  This was not the problem.  I found that I had missed a clamp on the fuel filter , and was leaking from there real bad.  With the clamp  installed, the smell went away. I had only lost about Three gallons of GAS due to this mistake.   I  Will not be able to tell the miles per gallon this time but I can get that on the next tank full.

I did have a few pictures of this but my Phone got stolen and they were on it , and I had not downloaded them yet, so I missed out on posting a few here for this post.  Well this is the end of this GAS TANK FUN  post. I have things to do around here at THE BACKYARD HOMESTEADING ACT that need  me to get to them.

QUAIL SHED DAY 18 TO 28

QUAIL SHED DAY 18 TO 28

Well It is time for this QUAIL SHED DAY 18 TO 28 post.    In the last two months I have done some work on the Quail Shed.   Not as much as I wanted to get to , but enough that I’ve got a lot done.    Now I’m starting to get to things that go inside.  I’ve been working on the Aqua Phonics system, as well as getting all of the wood out there  for the new RACK for the Quail cages.    I did get the Wires run and now have Electricity in the Shed.   All of these are part of my  QUAIL SHED DAY 18 TO 28.

The biggest thing for this  QUAIL SHED DAY 18 TO 28 ,  is that I have the floor done , and it is painted. This took a lot longer than I thought it would. 20160707_100652 There was some UN-helpful  HELP from the Puppies.  They took a stroll around the wet cement and left me some foot prints to fix. This was a day  of fixing all by its self. I had poured some self leveling cement and was tired so I called it a day.  The puppies needed to go potty so  l let them out for just 5 minutes and brought them back in for the night and went to bed.  Well the next morning there were PAW prints in the cement.   Well it was a lot of fun fixing that.20160707_173047  When I got this fixed I went on to the Painting of the floor , and ended up going with two Coates .  I hope that it lasts a long time.   Well between the float leveling and spot patching the paw prints and the painting of the floor I burned up 5 days    [ about 8 days in part  total ]   of my QUAIL SHED DAY 18 TO 28.

Now there was some electrical work for this  QUAIL SHED DAY 18 TO 28. This took 2 very long days , that were really 3 days worth of work in all.   With all of the running back and forth to get parts that I forgot or needed more of due to not counting right the first time to start with.   The first day was just getting parts and clearing out all of the Stuff out of the way, with a but of wire getting tacked up.    Well when i got to the actual work it was the next morning and it was very dark outside.20160715_05443720160715_05415820160715_060204

When I called it a day it was well into the evening.    I got to eat about 8 pm 20160715_07070020160715_102732that night.   20160715_06054820160715_06062120160715_06192720160715_065817  The electrical stuff cost me about  $150 total for every thing to get it all setup and running.  I still have 20160715_102944about 1.5 to 2  hours of things to do later, to finish off all of it.20160715_13415020160715_134217  This will be adding in the things to get it over onto the batteries and converter.   I will be doing this after I get the Quail moved in.

There was also some time used to build some places to mount my lights for the Aqua-Phonics system during this  QUAIL SHED DAY 18 TO 28 .   I also started the Stands for the grow beds too. I have the 150 gallon tank in the shed and water in it with 3 gold fish swimming around getting the water going. I need to get it cycled before I put my big fish in there, as well as adding the beds and the grow media.   This is a lot of work that needs doing.

Well this  is it for this  QUAIL SHED DAY 18 TO 28 post. I’ll get some more posts out having to do with the Quail Shed, soon.  I have a lot of pictures of the floor building , that I’ll do a post on.    There will be more about a few add-ons that I’m going to be doing too.  So this is it for this  QUAIL SHED DAY 18 TO 28 post  I have work to do.

QUAIL SHED DAY 17

QUAIL SHED DAY 17

Well this weekend was QUAIL SHED DAY 17.    Well  it took all weekend to get a good day in on the Quail Shed.  I did get other things done around the homestead, so I was productive for sure.  I  got a few little things done for this weekend but I was working on bits  and pieces  of the QUAIL SHED DAY 17  each day.

On the Wednesday part of the shed I was moving a bit of lumber out of the way, so as to make some room to work for the new Miter saw,  that got here today  , Friday.     After that I got a piece of  corner molding installed on the edge of the loft so that the lip will not get messed up when I move things up and down .     Well I got some house work done too, three loads of laundry and  did end up cooking  a lot of food on the grill to feed me for the rest of the weekend. Then I went to dinner with the family as it was my aunts birthday. A lot of food and a real good time . By the time I got home it was 8PM, and I was very tired.

Well the Thursday part of this   QUAIL SHED DAY 17 ,   was a slow day  as I did not get  a real start  till noon.  When I did get to it it was a short day , I called it by 5PM, and was  headed to bed by 8PM.  I was kind of lazy.  Well I did get a small bit of Caulking done and got some parts cut for under the corners of the roof, but I did not get them installed.

Well The Friday   part if this was the most active part of this  QUAIL SHED DAY 17.  I got to work on the top part  that is going to cap off the roof.   Well I got the base done and  Was working on the roof part  and when I started to assemble it i found that I had  took the short measurement and cut the long point to it  , So It was a waste of a board that I will have to replace  it in the morning.  Well I got the 1×2’s cut for the trim and found out that I’m short on them as well so I’ll be getting some more in the morning too.     Well I got the two sides of the Trim  nailed together  and ready to install.

Well  I will get to get that  finished next week.    I  have some dry days to work with next week .   I will do a few bits  while I’m able to while it is dry on MONDAY and TUESDAY, then I’ll get real busy on it for my weekend.  I’m going to try to get some  more caulking done so that I can get some Painting don on my weekend.   Well I’m done with this  QUAIL SHED DAY 17  post.
